Do I need a Referral?

You are welcome to see Jessica Suetsugu as a Private (no referral) or Medicare (GP referred) client. Please note that there will be differences in the rebates you may be able to claim.

What are your Fees & Rebates?

The cost of a 50min session is $250 with Jessica Suetsugu. A $15 surcharge will apply for after-hours appointments (before 9am and from 4pm weekdays, all weekend and public holidays).

If provided with a Better Access Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, you can currently claim $141.85 per session from Medicare for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.

The out-of-pocket cost for an in-hours Medicare session is $108.15 and an after-hours Medicare session is $123.15. The out-of-pocket cost for a Private session will depend on your level of extras cover.

In 2024-2025 the recommended fee by the Australian Psychological Society (APS) is $311 for a 46-60min session. However, Jessica Suetsugu is committed to making therapy more affordable so that more people can access psychological support.

Do you offer Concession rates or Bulk-Billing?

Yes in certain circumstances, Jessica Suetsugu is able to offer a hardship rate of $210 per 50min session with a Better Access Mental Health Care Plan, with a rebate of $141.85 (out-of-pocket $68.15).

In exceptional circumstances, Jessica Suetsugu is able to offer Bulk-Billing (no out-of-pocket cost) for Medicare clients. Please discuss your circumstances when making your initial appointment.

Can I book a Face-to-Face appointment?

Yes, if you are currently in Brisbane. Jessica Suetsugu works out of Wishart Medical Centre, 10-11/590 Mt Gravatt-Capalaba Road, Wishart QLD 4122, PH: 3849 2884 on Tuesdays.

What are the Limits of Confidentiality?

No information will be released to others without your written consent, except under the following circumstances:

1. Where a court orders the release of client information for legal purpose (e.g. in the case of a legal subpoena);

2.Where the psychologist is obligated under her professional code of conduct to disclose information in order to prevent potential harm to you or to another person;

3. To discuss with your referring GP (if applicable) progress in therapy as part of a mental health care plan (e.g. Medicare);

4. To discuss with a colleague or supervisor (another Psychologist) if required, for the purposes of providing improved treatment.

What can I expect from the First Session?

During the first session with your psychologist, Jessica Suetsugu will quickly go through your admin information to make sure everything is correct.

Then we will talk about your current situation and Jessica will ask relevant questions relating to what’s been happening in your life. Jessica Suetsugu may also ask questions about your past that are relevant.

You are always welcome to provide as much or as little information as you feel comfortable. Remember, these sessions are for you!
